The year 2021 has begun. On a personal level, this also meant some kind of return to my own roots and back to the agricultural sector. Actually, I had also missed it. I have grown up on a farm, graduated as an Agrologist and networked in the agricultural sector, so this feels like coming home. Before I came to Tume, I was the Managing Director of subcontracting company, which was producing different kind of machining parts for other companies. I am very grateful for that period I made there. The constant rush, the high quality requirements of customers, the risk management of large investments and the lack of a skilled workforce were things that forced the company to develop business for the future. Those “problems” are also things that the whole agricultural sector will demand even more in the future.
I got to know the history of Tume and it became clear that Tume has been really significant in the Finnish agricultural machinery industry. Tume has been reformer with many ways! For example: In 1948 was manufactured first seeding machines for sugar beet; first cultivation machines required for sowing were introduces in 1955. The first JyräCombi sowing and rolling machine where the wheels were behind the drill in 1988 and the first direct seeding machine in 1994.
Nowadays from our current product range, the same strong product development can be seen for example in Super Nova Combi- seed drill, which is ISOBUS compatible. With this machine the seeds and fertilisers are fed by electric motors. We are sure that those electric motors will become more common for feeding in some time, because it gives us better opportunities for precision farming and environmental management, which will be even bigger business in the future.
However, the success of our company cannot be counted on history, but it is of course something We should remember in the future too. In few months We will also have some changes in our ownership. Pel-Tuote company will be the biggest owner of Tume. That means Tume and Pel-Tuote will do more co-operation in future. Combined We have over 25M € turnover, over 120 employees and over 50 export countries, meaning We will be stronger together! We have also made new tools for export. We are looking for new strategic dealers from new countries, because We want to do this significant business with good partners in the future .
